My new carpet -or- get this thing off of me!
She finally came today. She's a yearling, but small for her age. I was expecting her to be small, but I wasn't fully prepared for how narrow she was going to be. She's probably 3 feet long, but she might weigh 1/10th of my yearling BP.
She's wrapped around my gloved finger in the picture. The picture was followed by half an hour of me trying to convince her to get off my finger.
Her name is Berber.

Re: My new carpet -or- get this thing off of me!
Lol, you gotta love that baby carpet attitude. They usually are nippy until they get larger. They are very slender snakes their entire lives- my 8 foot carpet is about as thick as my 4.5 foot ball python for reference and perfectly healthy. Carpets are just slender snakes compared to BPs. Regular handling (3 times a week for 5-10 mins each time is fine) will calm her over time. Just remember to not handle for 2-3 days after she eats. I had 4 yearling coastals that constantly bit and would bounce off the glass cages striking over and over at me, but I have a jungle/jag sibling male that came perfectly tame and he only nips if you move too quickly around him. He's about 3 feet and 600g.

Best of luck with the little beauty!

Re: My new carpet -or- get this thing off of me!
I managed to get her weighed this morning. She's about 36" long and weighs a whopping 2 ounces, and the breeder had her on rat pups. I can't wait to see her eat something that weighs half as much as she does. However, I think she's going into shed (she looks pretty washed out, and it's been 4 weeks since her last shed according to the breeder), so it'll be a while.
