Re: Lost Ball Python

This is one of the reasons why reptile rescue places are against breeders and the keeping of reptiles.

Aren't ball pythons one of the least dangerous snakes you can get? Why do people keep buying them if they know nothing about them or refuse to take care of them properly?

Unfortunately it's a matter of convenience. They're always in pet stores and they're cheap. People buy them as a "cool pet" for their children who generally grow out of that "fad" and then end up with a pet that they hate/are scared of. Same thing happens with Iguanas and Red Ear Sliders and Boas. It's the sad reality that people will do anything to obtain a certain image that they would like to portray.

Re: Lost Ball Python

Correct me if I'm wrong (and I'm usually NOT), but didnt the asker say that they had it in the BASEMENT? Where it's COLD and ALONE? I've said it before, so I'll say it again, Google is your friend! Use it. (By now she's probably long gone to never return... both the asker, and unfortunately, the BP)

I have my snakes in the basement. Albeit it's a heated basement and they're all properly heated with a proper thermal gradient and thermostats...

To answer the originall post. NO! it can't hurt you and why dont you just go look for it in all the warm places like around appliances but dont try to kill it you bought it as a pet treat it that way and find out how to care for it or give it to somebody who cares.
