Thumbs up CAGES.....a few photos.

Hello everyone:

Well I was getting a few photo and thought to update photos on my custom cages I made personally. Here you will see 2 styles I constructed 2 years back and now have moved to the melamine styles. Those photos will be coming later.

These tall units are 3 in 1 tall unit I made. Full sheets of 3.4 plywood were used and glued and screwed together. Primed and painted with over 3 coats of paint and 4 of polyurathene. Inside everything was siliconed and made water tight. Front opening is 1/4 plexi glass and locked with display locks. They have a 3 way ventilation system with 4 inch side round vents and a back 4 x 12 inch vent. There are 12 inch flourescent tub lights inside on a 12 hour timer. Controls at the top are for heating and lights. Units are all heating individually with radient heat panels and all temp and humidty is monitior with a digital therm/humidity control. Then included is some decoration and water bowls and hides.

I have 10 of these tall units, lots of work but I call them my display units that look alot like furniture.

Here u see smaller thinner stacked units. Everything is the same but these are stacked 1 piece units and slightly thinner units.

I have 6 of these units.

Thank you for viewing.

Comments and questions welcomed.

Cya...

Very nice. I have built a few of my own, but without any real "workshop" area I go crazy trying to build them.

EVERYONE:

Thanks, was alot of work over 2 months building all these units. Pretty much blew my holiday time on them. But I like that I can put them anywhere as funiture. Now the new line of melamine units I built was so much more easier.

Thank you all for the kinds words.

MICHELE KYLE:

For my rainbows a few species I collection the best thing I got that works great is this. Picture the simply cage like a rectangle shape cage. I think out 3 zones in the cage from very moist to humid to dry sitting area. The very moist part on 1 end is a large drinking / swimming tub area....depending on the size of the boa and its weight to flip over the tub, keep the lid on the tub and cut out a nice size hole on the top of the tub. This way they crawl in, feel secure and never spill the water. The humid zone is simple same as the water bowl but instead use moist newspaper or spagnum moss or etc. Again a lid with a hole on top, a perfect relaxing hide.

These 3 zones keep my guys happy and I see them seeking each out during the week all the time loving the options in the cage environment.

Hope this jelps.
