I have zero reason to watch any of his videos. I don't know why that video would single out ball pythons but I'm telling you that the reality is it's not just ball pythons that this happens to, and that's not just an opinion but a fact. It's seen often with ball pythons because they're one of the most popular snakes to keep amongst beginners who make the mistakes that cause the burns.
In regards to why his snakes don't get burned despite him using heat rocks...why do some people repetitively drive drunk yet some of them never get into an accident? Just because it doesn't cause harm every time it's practiced doesn't mean it's a safe thing to do. Sometimes when people do stupid things they get lucky. I guess it comes down to assessing risks involved. I would also consider it unwise to rely on a single keeper whose popularity is mainly due to the entertainment value of his youtube account over almost everyone else in the industry with experience, but that's your choice. I stick by my opinion about how awful hot rocks are and how dumb I think it is to advocate their use.

Perhaps you are misunderstanding me. I'm saying that if a thermostat fails then it stops controlling the heating device which would cause the heating device to be stuck on full power and run unsafely which most definitely has the risk of causing burns or fires. A perfect example of this...there is a local man who had a separate building for his tortoises and it was burned to the ground killing all animals inside due to thermostat fail, and this man is well respected in our hobby here. Anything can be defective or blow a fuse, even the best of products made by the best manufacturers, which is why it's important to regularly check temps and ensure everything is working properly. It's also one big reason why sometimes it can be hard to get house insurance if you keep reptiles depending on where you live or the company you are looking to get insurance with.
Hope that makes everything more clear. Feel free to PM me if not.
