Re: Possible issue with Rodent Pro

Hmmm, well I cut open a rodent received around the same time frame from them and didn't find anything. I see some people think it might be chewed up plastic. I use rodentpro and perfect prey both depending on exactly what I need and specials but still this does not give me the warm and fuzzies (pun intended) so thinking I'll stick to just perfect prey now as their rodents are cleaner anyway and the extra few $ here and there just isn't worth the worry.

Re: Possible issue with Rodent Pro

I used Layne Labs and never had an issue, but now I'm using Perfect Prey and haven't seen anything like that.

However, that being said, I did have an interesting issue with one of my Fuzzy Rats on Saturday: the two Rat Pinkies that I left overnight went unconsumed, but looked totally normal the next morning; however, the Fuzzy Rat was bloated like it was a week old and had been sitting out in the hot Texas sun! I've never had a F/T do that overnight, and it's no wonder my Hogg Island Boa refused to eat it...it probably smelled so bad it let go after I left the room--it grabbed it and pulled it in the hot hide--but the Fuzzy was sitting outside the hide in the morning.

And yes, despite what you think, all the Rat Pinkies are placed in the hot hides, where most of my snakes are when I feed in the evening, but they've never bloated with rigor like that Fuzzy did--I drop my temps at night (Herpstat "ramping") so it wasn't that hot in the hide overnight.

I'm going to have to watch the rest of those fuzzies from the shipment I received last week Wednesday.
