Even more BS right there. There is no one in the US who has a working pair of merts. What show was it?

Done... we'll even sneak in some locale specific animals (carpets, Antaresias etc.. etc..) and triple our profits.

Re: Importing Lace Monitors?

if monitors could be rapped in plastic, or stuffed in fake cakes, or disassembled and shipped in seperate pieces, wed have aussie monitors over here quickly. not sure why the export laws are so strict but i get why the imort laws are also after the kane toad stuff down under way back when. nice monitors, look good, but that "i have a 10k lizard" mentality is just making it harder to get them. its like anything, you run it through the laundry enough times it eventually becomes clean, not thats its right or ethical, but none the less it will at some point happen and the price will go down below 1000$ in time

Re: Importing Lace Monitors?

Not exactly sure what you meant, had to make sure I was reading it right.
You are aware that "the kane toad stuff" down there is an ongoing epidemic right?
Either way, if you try hard you can still find Lace monitors at a reasonably price. I know the makasar port and the java port get them from time to time, there are small island colonies that are farmed pretty heavily.

What islands are those? As far as I know, lace monitors are not found anywhere off of mainland Australia.

It's not, but whatever left before the laws past and their babies are still out there, carpets etc.

Because if reptile exports were legal it would be too easy to rort the system and start sneaking out rare reptiles, or start raiding wild nests to sell WC animals as 'CB'.

The key line in this quote is "at least that's what the exporters tell you". Yes, someone is feeding you a line about smuggled animals.

1. Reptile export out of Australia has been illegal for a long time and no one was breeding them, then, so the story of breeding lines predating the ban on exports is exactly that - a story.

2. Why on earth would they be exported to Java and Sula, of all places?

3. It's no coincidence that Indonesia is known for a rorted export system whereby WC animals are smuggled out as 'CB', therefore Java and Sula are named as the places where lace monitors are 'heavily farmed' (lol). Lace monitors aren't farmed anywhere.
