Well who are you to define what is crazy? Should we care that you don't care?

I do not put dogs and cats on the same level as humans. And if a family member requested that he or she be fed to a retic upon passing I would honor that request without hesitation haha!

Meat is meat. What makes one animal more important than another. I like rats, but I feed them to my snakes. I only feed F/T.

Anyone that puts an animal on the same level as a family member must be off the deep end.

we keep predators.....

they eat meat...

no prey item should be considered off limits,or more important than another...

if cat/dog shelters are euthinising and disgarding the bodies, then surely feeding another animal,is a much better reason for death,no ?

cheers shaun

Actually, those euthanized cats and dogs ARE fed to animals. They're fed to other cats and dogs. They grind them up. It's absolutely true. Here's a link.

Do They Really Use Euthanized Dogs and Cats to Make Pet Food?

It's all over the internet.

Yes, but the bad part about that is, the euthanizing chemical is still active in the bodies. It is not altered in any way during the food making process.
^ This is why I started feeding my cats the best food I can provide them.

Small portions of east and north east asia.

I've eaten dog once just to try it in South Korea. It's called dog soup and to be honest it was pretty damn good.

Not the kind of dog we think about as pets, they are wild dogs like coyotes.

Re: Animals you would never feed

Don't know how common it still is, but dogs were eaten in the Philippines when my Dad was stationed over there 40 years or so ago.

No one is saying to toss your pet Fluffy to your snake if you'd rather bury it instead. Considering the emotional bond you may have formed with Fluffy, such action would be understandable. But with regards to the feral cats and dogs as well as the unwanted/unloved animals euthanized at humane societies? Your attitude is illogical. How is it better to toss them in a landfill rather than allow their death to at least serve a purpose? (Now I would have issues with feeding the cats and dogs live to a snake ... though again, that is exactly what would happen in the wild. But since captive snakes, at least, generally can learn to take prekilled prey, that would be my pref.) Do you also have issues with rabbits and guinea pigs being used as reptile food? In areas of South America, it is common for guinea pigs to be pets as well as people food. I've known farmers who raise a few chicken, pigs, or whatnot for family consumption. While the animals are alive, they are treated very much as pets. But when it comes time for slaughter, that's that.

Re: Animals you would never feed

I think that feeding a dead dog from a shelter to a retic vrs feeding a rabbit to the same snake is a just as ludicrous as saying we would only feed white rats over black. Meat is meat. Want to discuss atrocities? Feeding dogs to dogs is somewhere to start. This entire thread is for not.
