Re: Littlefoot & Cera (New video & pictures)
also discovered that they wedge up under the ramp (since it's buried, they don't go up it like they did as babies, now they use it as a "tight hide".
That's why I am replacing it, they use it, so to me taking it out and leaving it out is not an option.

Re: Littlefoot & Cera (New video & pictures)
That is all good stuff Wayne. Instead of using wood and sealing it with that resin could you use slate/stone or even poor a concrete mold?
Just thinking less chemical and the rock/concrete would hold heat better.
How will that resin hold up under the basking light heat over time? Any issues with that you think?

Crocdoc suggested the resin, He coated the whole inside of his lace monitor cage with it, including the basking area, 13 years later it's still solid as a rock.

I used the resin to hold my corners together to make a good seal, everything else I used a polyurethane water based sealant. LOVE RESIN! LOVE LOVE LOVE

Ok.. Sounds good then. I just wanted to double check with the heat factor. I know some resin breaks down over time in the heat. I also use a type of resin in all my cages but I don't have near the amount of heat on it you do.

That dirt is only about 75 degrees. The basking spot is 147 and the air temperature is normally about 95 on the hot end and 85 on the cooler end.
It's the near 100% humidity that's rotting things.
When I build the 16x12 in the basement, the bottom walls will be poured concrete, that should last forever.

Be sure to post pictures of how the wood looks when it's been covered in that stuff. I'm curious whether it will be shiny or not..

It's shiny. Another common use is glazing over a (alcohol) bar. Then spilled drinks don't ruin it.
I helped a guy glaze over his basement bar with it, and the resin cured with a smooth sheen.
Think "new boat"

Re: Littlefoot & Cera (New video & pictures)
So, anyhow... this morning I find a big deep hole exactly where I had the cage all dug up yesterday.
And the obligitory face shot....

Re: Littlefoot & Cera (New video & pictures)
Great update! They're huge! Do you have a guess at the total length?

Re: Littlefoot & Cera (New video & pictures)
I would easily say they topped the 2 foot mark already.
I will measure Littlefoot, since he will let me hold him briefly.

Awesome!!!
Liam is about 26 inches total length, and her growth has slowed significantly. She eats a LOT but isn't gaining 2 to 3 inches a month like before. She's also 21 to 22 months old so perhaps it's because of her age. I can't guarantee she's been gravid before now, and I was thinking about the milestones I've seen with her compared to your two. (after all, we know so few captive boscs) It would be interesting to see if your suspected female cycles around the same age.
Those previous incidents with the "eggs" I found in Liam's water box were nothing like what I'm seeing now with her being gravid for sure. So I'm beginning to wonder if this is her first time cycling.
How old are your two now? (I want to say 9 to 10 months?)

Re: Littlefoot & Cera (New video & pictures)
Then I was spot on with my guess!!! They look like they're only a few weeks old in the beginning.
