boa not eating
I've had this female 1yr old rosy boa for a week now and she has already shed. Her last meal was Friday Oct 7. She seems to be fine and settled in; the temps are right, etc etc. I've put the little fuzzy mouse in there for her (since she didn't seem keen about taking it from the tongs). She keeps sniffing it, sticking her tongue out on it, but not eating it. The suspense is killing me! Should I leave it there overnight if she doesn't eat it soon? Would love some suggestions.

Re: boa not eating
As long as it's not live you can leave it there. The trick with my girl is that I have to cover her glass doors with a shirt or towel so that she can't see out and has more privacy/safety.

Oh, yes, forgot to mention. The breeder told me she's been feeding f/t her whole life. And like I said, she's 1 year old

Ok I've covered the tank with towels so it's almost completely dark in there. *Fingers crossed!*

Re: boa not eating
now leave her be for a while, check in before you go to bed, and again when you get up, if its still there, chuck it.

Re: boa not eating
Update: She did NOT eat that meal. I left it over night with all the walls covered. She took it, she seemed to be curled up on top of it, but never ate it. I disposed of it the following morning. What's next?

Re: boa not eating
One of my boas is extremely ( and I mean EXTREMELY) picky about the temp of his meals. He likes them very warm. It could be it just wasn't the right temp. Mine will smell it go right up to if but won't. Eat it. I can take that same mouse to my other feeding cage an my other snake will take it instantly. Good Luck.

Re: boa not eating
I left another really warm pinkie with her overnight. She took it into her hide (which is where I found it) but didn't eat it. She's a year old, so this isn't the case of a baby snake not eating. She *should* be eating, and I'm getting frustrated
ALSO, she is starting to be less active. Like if I pull her out of her hide, she just sits there... she doesn't try to go find her hide or anything. Is this her losing energy or is it that she's just comfortable in her enclosure??
please help!!

Re: boa not eating
Ok... Right off the bat. Do not offer food more than 1 time a week and until she eats do not handle her. If you offer food to often you will stress her out and she will continue to refuse food. Snakes can go a while without eating....
Is she in a quiet room? What do you have her temps at? how is the tank set up? what was she being fed when you got her?

The tank set up is two hides (one on each side), a small water dish, and some plastic leaf thingies on the side that can cover her going from hide to hide. The warm end is 85-87 and the cool end is at 73-75.
Before I got her, she was feeding on 2 f/t pinkies or 1 f/t fuzzy mouse. She's a year old and been feeding on f/t her whole life according to the breeder.
Edit: yes, she's in a quiet room. There is minimal traffic here (I live alone in my apartment).

Re: boa not eating
Ok so all sounds good... wait her out then. Offer 1 Prey Item a week and she will eat when she is ready.
