burm genetics question

What would happen if I bred my green het albino with my granite het albino burm? The green could poss be het for green, but I didn't know since green and granite were both recessive if I'd just get normal hets.... I cant find a genetic calculator that's still online for burms. Thank you!

Re: burm genetics question

If the green gene is recessive (which it is) then having a visual green het albino, all of your babies would be 100% het (given that your granite is not het green). If your green het albino and granite het albino burm breed, granted you don't have any other genes in their you don't know about. You should receive het greens, het granites, some albinos (maybe 25%) , and het albinos. If your granite IS het green, you will receive the above, and some greens (at greater odds than your albinos since you only have 2 het bino's which gives binos, hets and normals)

Re: burm genetics question

Knowing how to work Punnett Squares is something everyone ought to learn.
Do you mean your granite could be possible het green? Your green cannot be het green, it isn't possible. Assuming you meant your granite..

If it was not het green, your theoretical outcome would be:
25% albino double het for green and granite
50% normal triple het for albino, green, and granite
25% normal double het for green and granite.

Since you have no way of knowing which are het albino or not, you would label all the normals "66% possible het albinos".

Now, if the granite were het green, theoretically you would have:
12.5% albino green het for granite
25% green het for albino and granite
12.5% green het for granite
12.5% albino double het for green and granite
25% normal triple het for albino, green, and granite
12.5% normal double het for green and granite

I think my math is all correct there.

Yes that is what I meant, thank you so much for the info. I haven't had to do a punnett square in years, but I know I should relearn
