Scale rot blister.

Is this a scale rot blister, or something else? Can the blister be on the inside?

I'm just checking if this could be scale rot, this is an old pic but I found a similar mark on the outside of another one. What could cause them to be getting random cysts? Or maybe the other one is just scale rot and this pic wasn't... I don't know anymore...

You collection is clearly infested with something. I would vote more of a parasitic thing due to other things that have come up in your collection.

"Although sores are sometimes caused by skin injuries, they more often develop from within." So I think it's possible for it to start inside and then progress to a sore on the outside.

I've never really seen scale rot look like that. It's more so a fungus that seems to "kill" the scales.

Looks like a cyst type thing. Tumor maybe. Honestly, you need your collection checked if that's what's happening.

yeah scalerot wouldn't look like that from the inside. It's a rot that starts between the scales on the outside, going in.

Did you pop it? anything inside it?

I can't think of a virus that would act like that, but you do seem to have a lot of deaths compared to others who've had the same number of snakes. It's kind of a strange percentage to all be coincidence.

I will agree there is definitely something going on the with my WC hots, but they are isolated and quarantined from anything else. I've had one other death, from a cheap snake from a bad seller that was already in terrible health....

That picture I posted was old from when I cut open my dead rattlesnake, that is not a new picture. I just wanted to go back and see if that was possibly scale rot, for treating another one. I've taken care of the parasites in the remaining ones, and want to figure out what i'm treating for now.

Besides a fecal test for negative parasites, what else is a vet going to be able to do for me ? Can they test for fungal infections on a living snake?

I just started poking around and found information on Chrysosporium. How likely is this? One of them did have a messed up head, but I figured it was just a birth defect. Now i'm reading that's one of the symptoms of it....

it's possible. do you have a microscope? i'm serious lol we were just talking today about the real possibility of getting one and doing cultures for new fish we get, sick fish, sick snakes, etc.
*shrug* that's about all a vet would do, but if they did come up with something that could be treated, at least it would help keep the others healthy

I do, but no slides. Do you know if and how a vet could test for it? A simple swab, or some in depth tissue samples?

I can ask Kevin from NERD today on both topics, he's seeing a lot.of infections of wild timbers and other snakes in his area. He might be able to identify that.

Kevin hasn't heard of it that far west but he was curious if you had pictures of that spot on the outside of the snake?

I'd be curious if you took the node to a vet to have tested.
