Need some help identifying the Carpet

Hey fellow herpers, I owned this beautiful girl (I say owned because she passed last year, RIP Aaliyah), and would definitely like to get another cause she was a dream to handle and easy on the eyes. I bought her as adult for a pet store and all they could tell me was that she was an ‘Australia Carpet Python’ and that she was approximately 5 years old ,female and full grown at 6 foot. She was in fact female, but was not full grown because she put on almost another foot while in my care. This store was great about taking in reptiles that became to big for their owners liking, so I was happy to take her into my family. I’ve done some research and I can’t find any CP’s with this colour, they all seem to be black and yellow, so any insight would be appreciated. I know there are different sub species as well as morphs, so I’m hoping someone can shed some light. Thx in advance.

If she only got 7 feet long I would say Irian Jaya but I can't really tell from those pictures. Maybe Shaun or another morelia person will be able to tell you.

It seems pretty "standard" coastal to me, keep in mind however that with the variation in the morelia complex let alone individual species, standard can mean very little. If you get a chance try to check out Nick Mutton / Justin Julander's new book on my carpets and you'll see what I mean. Good read as well.

I love costal's for some odd reason. Seven foot is pretty big how big do they usually get

They are the biggest of the carpets(ij, jungle, and coastal), females can potentially get to 12ft. But most will top out between 8-10ft in captivity. Of course this is with the females getting bigger than the males.

theres a lot of coastal influence

could be a coastal or a jungle jag sibling

only the breeder would know for sure

it was a nice looking carpet

I'd say Coastal or Coastal X yep.
On the size thing

OK males & females can get the same size, heck males can even be bigger.
Females are typically bigger as they are fed more by breeders as they require it more than the males do. thus why females tend to be bigger its all in the feeding.
The whole its only 6ft so it must be an IJ thing is a crock of crap as well.
IJs can & will hit 7ft+ easy just like ANY other subspecies will.]
Whether they are given the opportunity to or not is the question.
Too many misinformed folks or outright scumbags breeding babies way too young & way too small thus why you see all these tiny lil "breeders" out there.
Female carpets require a full 4 years to fully mature & be given a chance to reach their full potentials size wise.
Same thing happened with Carpets as did with the stupid BPs as morphs became more & more trendy & marketable (IE CASH!!!).
Folks lowered all standards for properly raising these animals & set the bar as low as possible.
I personally know of people breeding females Jags at 1.5 yo, but hey they were 7ft 7 eating jumbo rats already

can you say seriously POWERFED Boys & Girls? I can or there are these folks that think 1500g & 1.5 yo are acceptable standards for female Carpets!!!
NOT acceptable for stupid BPs even let alone Carpets!!! END RANT Mark LOL

breeding a female at 18 months is a terrible thing to do

i would not breed a female under 4 years of age

i like to feed my carpets slow but steady,i keep them lean and firm,imo it leads to a much healthier carpet python

Yep 18 months is too young.

I don;t think th enecessarily need to be 4 though, it does very much depend on the snake. I paired my caramel female up at just under 3 years old, I felt she was ready, and she produced a healthy clutch of 19 eggs no slugs, and the following year 24 eggs no slugs.

i agree terry if i had a female that was large enough at around the age of 3 then i would breed her

only if she was up to size on a normal diet

i am in NO way suggesting you power fed the carmel coastal mate

i know your snakes get the best care going

yeah power feeding to get to breeding size is just rediculous
