My house now has not hardwood or tile but CARPET!!
The time has now come I've succumbed to the pressure. I'm now the proud owner of a new death worm.
She is 25% jungle - 25% diamond - 25% bredli - 12.5% Iran jaya - 12.5% coastal jag x Iran jaya. Bought her from a local breeder at an expo.
She might be a jag though her head seems to be okay. I'm a sucker for cool patterns and X marked the spot. She was also not an attack worm though she did strike at the breeder while I was holding her. The ride home didn't seem bother her a lot as she wasn't trying to fight when I set her free as you can see. She did a lap and promptly coiled herself up into the very top corner of the cage.
No name as of yet but here she is and her home as it sits.

Nice new carpet! it certainly looks like a jag. What does her belly look like? If it's mostly clean or completely white on her belly scales then she's very likely to be a jag.

This is the only picture I snapped that catches her belly. She is clean white though and sexed and jag determined by the breeder.

Thanks, I'm happy with how the tank turned out. I hope she is too, so far she isn't a bite machine so off to a good start.

Yeah. Persephone hasn't ever tried to get me, but dang she hits her feeders hard! Oh! She ate a quail chick yesterday! Looking forward to giving her a varried diet as she grows =)

The breeder recommended to offer mice or asfs at this age, higher calcium but throw in rats every 3rd feeding to still make them get used to rats. He has adult carpet stuck on mice. Not something I want to happen. Sadly we don't get the chicks you do.

Congrats Blaze. That's a beautiful carpet. Your enclosure looks great too. I really think you'll enjoy the Morelia experience. They're really neat snakes. I give mine mostly rats but I'll throw mice, asfs, and chicks in the mix too. None of mine are picky eaters.

Thanks, the breeder recommended asf's and mice while young for better development. And add rats for a mix so they are still okay with them. He has an adult carpet that refuses rats so it's possible though not common. But he recommended mice and asf's for the higher calcium content over rats.

Nice! Mine is most definitely not a picky eater and he sits at the front of his cage now watching for food all the time...like he has never ever been fed in his life lol

Re: My house now has not hardwood or tile but CARPET!!
I'm hoping she stays true to the feeding side of carpets. It's okay if she doesn't want to bite me every time though lol

The calorie content of mice vs rats is vastly different and you'll spend a fortune on food (mice or ASF) if your carpet becomes a mouser. Growth rates are exceptionally slow (and I'm not a power feeder by any means). Every breeder I know starts their JCP off on F/T (if possible) rat pinks, so I'm interested as to why this breeder would recommend mice to begin? My hatchlings are offered rat pinks and about half have taken them. The rest are taking mouse hoppers. I hate this....I've had a mouser before and it's frustrating. I actually switch mine over to ReptiLinks as soon as they will take them (and most will), but that conversation is for another thread/discussion.
Nice looking jag btw. Great pick up and welcome to the club

The breeder recommended not exclusively rats at this age. The higher calcium content of mice and asfs vs higher fat of rats but mix in rats so she is still used to eating rats and just rotate until she gets a bit of size on her. She is only a little over a month old at this point. I plan on rotating 2 mice to 1 rat or 1, 1 and 1 depending on availability until she bulks up a bit. Then will transition to rats more often. She is eating FT.

Thanks Dave
Guys keep in mind her mom is a pure IJ and she is eating mice pinks right now. I just have small hands.
