Proper heating for a corn snake?

Hey, everyone. I wanted to get a heat mat/thermostat and ditch the lamps that I have for my corn snake but then I though about them borrowing. Wouldn't it be easy for them to get burnt if they are all the way at the very bottom of their bedding?

Use a thermostat and measure the temperature beneath the bedding too.

I don't think it would be enough to burn the corn snake if the heat pad is trying to get the desired temperature to the mid 80's. I am using a heat pad for my corn as well.

Just use enough bedding so the corn can burrow but not so much that the heat pad would need to work harder to reach a desired temp.

I have like two - three inches of aspen in there. Is that good?

How much exactly? I give my corn an inch of bedding.

The more bedding you give, the harder the heat pad will work, resulting in a hotter spot where the heatpad touches the glass/plastic.

I am not switching, I was just curios as to whether or not it'd burn them. I don't even have the money to switch, if I wanted to. lol
