look into local expos in your area, i know there is one in white plains, NY, and poughkeepsie, and one or two on long island; there is guaranteed to be tons of variety there, and you can probably find the snake you want, in the age you want, in the gender you want, for much cheaper than at a local pet store.
While you should have an initial quarantine tank set up before you get your snake, expos are also great places to buy cheap tank furniture, feeder mice/rats, bedding, tanks, etc.
