Emperor Scorpion Question's
So, my gf and I are moving on to our second pet, and have settled on an Emperor Scorpion. Now, I have a mild allergy to bee stings. I have an EpiPen just in case.
My questions are basically, how much room does one need, how big can they get, humidity, temps, etc... Basically we know nothing about them, but absolutely want one.

Re: Emperor Scorpion Question's
OR.... some one on here who is familiar with them could just respond and help... its kinda the point of a forum...
any ways, from what i read, and learnt up on for Emperor Scorpions, their venom is like that of a bee sting, so i would it would react like a bee sting to you, but then again, im sure all venoms are slightly different..
again, just from what i read.

Re: Emperor Scorpion Question's
@erichillkeast - That would be why I am on a Forum... To ask questions, to get other peoples opinion. Google produces so much, and its all conflicting.
@GlyKon That's what I have read too. Seeing how I am allergic to bee's, that is my main concern. But I do have an EpiPen in the house just in case. I would like to handle at some point, but that's down the road.

Yes a forum is a place to get tips and opinions. Unfortunately most don't want to do your homework for you. As per your first post you admit to not doing any research so how can we give you opinions on something you haven't got two sweet clues about?

The venom is different from a bee sting, you may be allergic you may not, only way to find out is the hard way unfortunately. Scorpion venom also works differently to a lot of venoms, most venoms you will eventually build up a tolerance to the more you are exposed, however scorpion venom gradually breaks you down each time, so each sting is worse. I've only been done 3 times from emperors, the first time the finger that was stung was just a little numb, the second time the hand went numb, third time it was practically my whole arm, i am a bit more cautious with them now.
They do get to quite a decent size, adults can be around 6 to 7 inches when full grown. The exo terra 18inch cubes is a decent size for a couple, one adult will be fine in that.
Deep substrate around 3 to 5 inches is best, allowing them to burrow and dig, spider life (if you can get it over there), is really good stuff for them, if not, top soil would work fine.
Heat wise, a gradient of around 75 to 85 would be fine, and humidity you want around 70 to 85%, higher for younger scorpions who moult more frequently, and the lower end for adults.

that is why I 1st came here few years ago, one site would say this, another would say that, the 3rd one would say the other 2 are wrong..its just easier to ask on here and someone with knowledge and experience can lead you in the right direction, rather than sifting though 1.3 million search results on Google, and if you don't want to answer repeated questions, then why are you on a forum?
I know i dont know much, but i will answer the same question everyday if I can help educate some one on snakes, or any other animals.
im getting on Friday and pretty excited!

36x17x12 inches? If it is inches it would be great for a group, could have 4 in that size comfortably, if it is cm, then you'd just get away with 2, but one would be more comfortable.

Most species will generally eat each other in scorpions cases, but emperor scorpions are generally alright, i've kept groups together for years, and only had one case of cannibalism, that was in a large group of 6, i introduced another adult female, and over night something happened, as by morning there was just a claw left, the other 6 never touched each other though, it was very strange. There is always a risk though, keeping them well fed and ensuring multiple hiding places will lower that risk. 2 would be fine in for size in that though.
