Hello from Backafter30
I am told that I need to establish my non-spamming intentions in order to have conversations here, so here I go. I have kept critters since I was in the 4th grade, with an especially keen interest in reptiles, which culminated in high school in what my parents must have considered a private zoo. (caimans, retic, boas, rats, racers, kings, water snakes, etc, most native to Illinois) I even cared for a poisonous snake collection for minimum wage while in college. Around that time, I discovered girls and cars and eventually moved on from all the animals, got married, raised a couple of kids, and am now looking for a hobby again. I am shocked at how this hobby has progressed while I was gone. (about 30 years, hence the username) Every snake I had back then was wild caught, even the ones from the pet stores. We didn't have the internet, frozen mouse delivery, captive-bred babies, or designer morphs. What's more, my wife has just blown my mind by saying that it wouldn't bother her at all if I took up reptiles again. 25 years of marriage, and they can still surprise you... And THEN I find out that we have like 6 reptile shows a year here in Denver, two of which are practically in my back yard! And people keep snakes in plastic tubs now!!?? How convenient is that? Anyway, I haven't made any decisions just yet, but was hoping to check out the hobby again, and see if I might want to give it another shot. I want to be cautious, however, since I do not tend to do anything half-way. Looking forward to our future conversations and maybe even meeting a few of you at shows. Anyone out there from southeast Aurora, Colorado?

Re: Hello from Backafter30
Thanks everyone for the nice welcome. Sorry to join and then disappear, but I've been discovering the incredible amount of information out there on this hobby. I really had no idea... Anyway, a few weeks and I'm still at just one post, so I thought I'd better reply, then start a few new threads in the general section. Looking forward to discussions!
