New to the forum and snakes.
Hello
I'm from Huntsville Texas.
I recently became a snake owner when I found a snake in my yard that I could not identify.
I sent pictures to the local zoo and some reptile houses asking for help in identifying my snake.
It seems that what I have is a Texas Coral Snake. I have seen Carol Snakes before but never have I seen one that looks like this. Has anyone else seen one with markings like this?

No! It was in that jug while I made up a more suitable place for it to stay.

Hi there, beautiful snake. Forgive my ignorance on this species, but aren't coral snakes venomous??

Re: New to the forum and snakes.
Welcome to our zoo!
Coral snakes are venomous but that doesn't look like a coral to me since they're banded and that one isn't. I could be wrong though. I've never seen one look like that but I may be wrong. Hopefully someone with more experience with this animal can give you a better idea of what you've caught.

Re: New to the forum and snakes.
doesn't the 'red next to yellow, kill a fellow, red next to black, friend of jack' still apply, though?
