Plants for red-eyes

Does anyone have any recommendations for the types of plants that I can put in my tank beside the usual pothos? The tank is a 40 gal tall. Also please note that I can't grow anything except for a few cacti . . . . lol !!

Thanks everyone . . . .

Matt

PS. I love these forum s even though I haven't been a member for long. Keep up all of the great posts cuz I'm really learnin a lot!!!

Most if not all philodenderons are fine. I have used weeping and creeping fig, but you need good light. It sort of depends on what you want. Most plants are fine, but there are some exceptions. Maybe make a list of the ones you want and post them.

Country:
if using a florescent uv light during the day (red eyes are nocturnal anyways) you can grow almost anything.....

Nontoxic plants: pothos, creeping charlie, pepperomia, sweet alyssum, grape ivy (kangaroo vine), impatiens, prayer plant, spider plant, hibiscus, bromeleiads, air plants, japanese araila, rubber plant, wandering jew, wax begonia, zebra plant, zinnia, wax plant, baby's breath, baby's tears...ummm....those are just a few that are safe...

any of those can be found at your local garden center like White Rose and even Dominion!

I have used pepperomia, prayer plant, spider plants, and chinese evergreen with great success in vivariums using a 5.0 uvb bulb during the day and watering only 2x a week. The prayer plants and chinese evergreen have large broad leaves that are great for the frogs to hide under during the day, they also have light and dark green contrast on the leaves making a great display plant as well.

I'll post pics for you as soon as i can of some vivariums with these plants in em. If ya have a plant in mind and want to know if it is safe of not...just post it...

designing viv's is so much fun...interior decorating for herps!

Thanks Jenn . . .

I would love to see some pics if ya got em and I will post some in the next few weeks once I get the entire setup complete. I'm doing it over time as the number of pets stores around here are very limited so the price of everything is fairly high (ex. the red eyes are $100 each).

You may want to get some shipped. You can find them fairly easily for $30-40 can. It would probably work out cheaper even with shipping.
