I was in the oldham riots when they kicked off... scary as hell. It started this time because police shot a so called local gangster. So now theyre rioting against police brutality etc. Yet if somebody was terrorising any of their familys then theyd want help from the police. Sad

They are rioting cos they are scum who see a chance to make a mess, burn some things, have a fight and steal stuff that they are too damn lazy to get off their asses and work to earn the money for. Let the police use live ammunition and save us all the hassle!

Depends where you are - they are burning shops but lots of shops in London have apartments above them.

The "gangsta" that was shot pulled a gun on police, he fired once, police fired once - police were more accurate and he was killed. The riots have nothing to do with it imo - just an excuse for the minority to pretend they have political motives when really they just like causing trouble.

Thankfully we are in a small town - there was a disturbance about 8 miles away but we should be pretty secure where we are.

Best thing last night was the turkish community in london - they lined the streets where there shops were and refused to back down to the looters - none of their properties were damaged at all.

And today there is estimated to be 10 times the number of people on the street tidying up and helping people carry on with their lives - that is the face of England that should be on the news.

Is it any minority or race that is leading this particular riot? Or is it just a cluster fudge of random idiots? Personally though there seems to be a lot of general dis-rest all over the world. Wonder what has gotten so many people all wound up?
