Greetings from Oklahoma
Hello. My son and I are planning to get a Braz. Rainbow in a month or so. Trying to do some research and learn what I can before we get it. We don't want to jump into this without learning what we need to know first. I'll probably be asking a lot of questions so bear with me. Thanks, Michael

Daniel is 7. He wrote a book to try and earn money to help pay for his set up. he is really excited about it. We have a 55 gal tank (bye bye fish) and are working on getting the stuff we need to make it snake friendly. (fish went to the pet store to be resold, nothing bad happened to them)

I have a columbian rainbow boa and believe the care is similiar between the CRB and BRB. I'm learning one of the most important things is keeping the humidity right. Luckily I live in Southeast Texas and we have high humidity here anyway, but it's still work keeping the humidity at between 75 and 80% in a glass tank. I suggest getting something plastic like the animal plastics cages or boaphile,etc. I'm going to the repticon in October to look for a better enclosure for my rainbow. Once you get him all set up enclosure wise and let him settle in, rainbows are great snakes!!! I love mine, he is very calm when handled, can be a little nippy when first getting him out of his enclosure but that is pretty standard with baby boas I'm finding out.
He is beautiful, fun to interact with and a blast to feed!!

Thanks lady. I think I have the humidity problem whipped (i hope at least). using a glass cage, with a plastic cover to limit airflow. planning for some live plants to aid with humidification. I have a couple of other ideas up my sleeve as well.

Also with the glass tanks your snakes can become stressed as theyll feel vulnerable from it being so open... this can lead to non feeders etc. Id definately go for plastic or wooden. And if your house isnt heated 24/7 in the winter your ambiant temperatures will fall fast. Just what i found from the 2 brb's ive had.

How about a glass tank with the back and sides covered and a couple of good hides? Planning for in tank heating to maintain proper heating. I'm considering using a heat cable under the tank, winding it back and forth.
