What to do if the power goes out?
So I lose power at least once a year for different reason and once a few years ago there was an ice storm that left me out of power for a week, and other people for even longer. If you don't have a backup generator what do you do to keep your reptiles warm?

Re: What to do if the power goes out?
Good question, i dont personally have a back up generator theres one at my familys house though.. Its not to cold here in SC so if the power went out for a few days i think it would be ok here. But i suppose if you really needed heat w/o power the fireplace would be a option.

Re: What to do if the power goes out?
During said ice storm it was pretty cold and I doubt a snake could live through it without hibernating. But we do have a fireplace that could do good. Thanks for the answer I didn't even think of a fireplace

Re: What to do if the power goes out?
We lose power a lot here, I have a large propane heater that uses no electric, and I use a battery & inverter to run my lights.
Generators are noisy.

Re: What to do if the power goes out?
Thanks Wayne. And yeah I'm not sure if I'm getting a hoggie. A friend of my sister's offered his to me for free with setup because he's going to college but I don't know if that's gonna work out. If I don't I hope I can get a BP in October.

I also might get something other than a snake, maybe a leopard gecko.

I think I'll be getting these two when they're ready:
This one is an Albino Leo

This one is a Snow Mack

Re: What to do if the power goes out?
Heat packs are great to use for temporary situations. They have the hand and foot warmers for people and they have ones meant for shipping reptiles that last longer. That ice storm wss brutal. I lost some herps in that one. Sucked. I learned over the winter that water bottles filled with warm water are great too. We used them bringing a water dragon to the vet in February.
