Installing heat tape ?'s

I am soon going to be building a rack and want to use heat tape for it, however ive never even seen heat tape in person, i have seen pics of it and some descriptions and pics of how to install it but i wonderd if anyone had a link for a site that gave detailed pics and descriptions on how to install it, i have never done any electrical work so the more details the better. Any links will be greatly appreciated,
