Paid a bit of a surprise visit to Mark Isbell (gone snakee). He bitches when I am in town and don’t even phone him, so I phoned him and told him to get the coffee on. I brought my camera along, just in case.
Well, I’m glad I did – got some pictures of some very cool snakes and things.
Kyle could not be reached for an interview, this time!
One thing I have to say, was the state of his collection was absolute immaculate, better than mine, and better than any I’ve seen. And this was a surprise visit – not even any poop in the Indigo’s cages – which I view as a rare occasion at my house.
Mark had made a joke in my old rumours thread, about hearing a rumour that the blackheads and diamonds were coming to his place. I had to tell him how weird that was, as just the day before, Sheila and I had discussed and decided that if we ever give up our permit to keep boas and pythons in the province, we would let Mark keep and breed the blackheads and diamonds. After seeing his set up, we are wondering if maybe they would be better off at his place regardless of permits – he keeps very good care of all of his pets – and he does treat them like pets!
Met Mark (and Kyle) at my first Calgary show back in 2000. We were both rabidly buying breeding pairs of colubrids, and comparing notes about what was for sale. Funny to look back on where we started, and see how we have now ended up with similar favorites.
Here are some of the pictures I took of Mark’s stuff
