Home-made incubators...

Hey everyone, few people have been asking me how I built my home made incubator that recently hatched out my clutch of bearded dragons, I use the same for cornsnakes, and will probly do the same for the other colubrids in my collection!

Here's what you'll need, and how I did it:

10 gallon tank worked fine for this small clutch..a larger tank may be required if your incubating larger eggs, or multiple clutches.

Second..I cover the sides of the tank in paper, to keep the light out, just my preference.

Few things that are essential is:
- a peice of styrofoam..that fit's snug into the groove of the tank
- a bobbing fish tank thermometre,
- a jar w/ lid
-a reasonably sized rubbermaid..or gladware container..with holes punched in the sides-
-and a source of heat. You can use a heat pad (as I did this time around) or a submersible fish tank heater.

-Fill the gladware with a one part vermic, peat moss mixture to one part water.

Fill the jar full of water..and put the lid on, then rest the egg chamber (gladware) on the jar..it'll act like a shelf.

Fill the tank until its about 3-4 inches under the gladware.Stick the submersible to the bottom of the tank...as close to the middle as possible, or slide the heatmat under the tank. Then, stick your thermometre there the lid, in the middle.

Then...put the top on.check the temperature, it may need to be adjusted a few degree's or so...let it register for a few hours..to make sure its correct, have it ready before the eggs get layed...helps alot..and its done! Hope this helps anyone who is looking for a cheap, easy to build incubator.

Thanks for veiwing.
