Cant make a decision..

So ive been looking at a couple species lately, as (when its built) I will have a new rack system with three empty rubbermaids, so you know what that means...they need filling

Ive cut my options down to a pair of milksnakes or a tiger rat snake. For the rat snake though, he wouldnt be able to live in a rubbermaid for very long so I think thats out, plus im told they're extremely hard to find. CB babies that is.

Im open to other suggestions, but do you think milks are good. I have corns so im assuming their somewhat like them. I realize i make the final decision, but what similar snake would you get instead if you could.

Thanks!

Ok, I have no experience (yet) with keeping a rack system, but I think rats are awesome Some much variety too!

Good luck with making your final decision!

Yea..hmm.

I was told a pair of ratsnakes (tigers) need a ton of space. Is this true? Could a pair be housed comfortably in a 5x2x2, or is that way to big/way to small?

I cant find any good caresheets on these guys!

I don't think spilotes should be housed together year round'

And they do require alot of space, very active species.. I dont think they would be a good choice for you. Go with the milks.

Why don't you just buy what you like instead of having people recommend what you buy?

haha, well I just want to know the difficulty of owning the tiger compared to a milk, really..

I just love the tigers, but it looks like they'll be to much..although I dont really know as there are no caresheets on them. Or books at that. I can barely find any info on these guys.

Let alone I doubt they'll be any at the show.

Tiger rats and any milksnakes I'm familliar with are not very similar. If you really love the spilotes, go for it man. I love them too, and if I ever find a nice looking CBB pair, I'll be bringing them home, but I know they're not the easiest snakes to keep compared to milks.

You cant go wrong with a nice breeding pair of hondurans. With all due respect to all the selective breeding going on, I like a nice dirty normal hondo with lots of tipping. Sinaloans are pretty cool too.

Instead of getting animals because you just want to fill up a hole in a shelf, why not wait until you find something you absolutely fall in love with and then get that.

A Spilotes would definitely not do well in a rack system for too long. They get too big and are arboreal. Other smaller NA ratsnakes may work. Besides, it also depends on the size of tubs you're using.

Every recent post of yours, you can not make up your mind. First it was getting another bci now its this. Why dont you concentrate on starting one project, instead of having 50 that are only half accomplished. Just my opinion, but if you keep getting new snakes that dont help out with what you have now, you will go no where breeding wise.

I gotta disagree with mudflats...sort of. I'm all over the place with my interests right now because I'm still getting experience with various species, and figuring out what I like, and what I'd like to breed in the medium to long term. Sure, it may go nowhere breeding wise, but there's more to the hobby than just breeding, especially for the relatively new hobbyist.
