Ok seriously do you think I messed up.....

Ok I posted the wieght and length of my BRB on a few different boards. On one board they keep saying he is to big and they keep implying I am trying to get him big to breed. He is about 2 pounds and 55 inches long and he is 1 1/2 years old. He eats 1 large rat about every 7 days or so for now. What do yall think? I think he is fine and its not to much. I have always fed him what is appropriate for his largest part of his body. It just bothers me that folks are basically saying that I am not doing the right thing for my snake.

dont listen to those guys. 1 rat of the appropriate girth (1.5 x thickest part of snakes body), every seven days, is not overfeeding. this is a topic that has been hotly debated on this site before. while it is true that overfeeding a snake to get them to breeding size quicker is a common and possibly detrimental practice, according to the info you have given i do not believe that your animal is over fed. i saw the picture you posted, and although i do not keep BRB's, i have seen columbian rainbows of a similar size at a similar age. i think this may be a case of other people jumping the gun, and criticizing you prematurely.

55 inches is HUGE for 1.5 years old... but it doesn't sound to me like you've been power feeding. It sounds to me like you have a big, strong, hardy snake, and anyone who says otherwise can keep their jealousy to their damn selves. I say good job on feeding your snake appropriately.
