Now how long is THIS gonna be?!

<img src=http://img55.photobucket.com/albums/v167/Vanan/Inverts/Pboreusgravid2.jpg>

Been 3-4weeks since I found her like this. Anyone have any clue on the Paruroctonus boreus reproductive cycle? I sure don't.

Seeing as she's pretty preggo and I doubt they'd give birth in the Saskatchewan winter, I'd assume Fall is when I'd expect scorplings. Eh?

To reiterate, there is no way to tell how long by size, however, odd or different behavior may give us a clue.

It's next to impossible for me to note odd or different behaviour as the trio I have now tend to be shy. All I do is drop in the food (I house them communally) when needed, and stir them all up to see how they're doing occasionally. Haven't stayed up enough to watch their nocturnal activities or anything. Can't even tell you even she's been off feed or not as they seem pretty shy about eating too.

Besides, I was kiddin on asking how long, as there seems to be no data on the reproductive cycle of these guys. Wish I knew when the "jiggy with it" took place.

Haha, I would expect its gestation to be about 10-12 months, too bad you don't know when it, yes, "got jiggy with it". :P

Good luck with them,

Aidan

Wow, that's a long gestation period for such a small creature. Crazy!

--edit--
I'd said "small animal" which sounded stupid in retrospect

Ah shucks! Was being hopeful that it'd be shorter. Makes me also wonder when mating actually takes place and how they avoid the -40C weather during gestation.

Katt you sound very much like Julie with the T's. One escaped into her gecko closet. She said if she could have reached it. It would have been a gonner! Ya right inless she could have thrown something as she was running away. TB

I think we'd all love the one and only Canadian Scorpion.

i heard something like 1200 or so, but im not sure. And only a handfull of those 1200 can be dangerous to humans (like 25, something in that direction)
Greetz Daan

Edit: Forgot to say how cool they look
