Yup! I got birds, we've had tons, right now we have an albino budgie, a grey female cockatiel, a white face lutino(albino) cockatiel, a white and blue budgie, and two ringneck doves. We've had finches, canaries and other dove types.

I like to look at birds but too much noise involved with owning one, maybe one in a cage in the middle of the snake room might be interesting lol

Rev,
Yep they ARE noisy... but she's a love. Made a good dog trainer as well... we had a hybrid wolf when we lived in MI that made the mistake of sniffing a bit too much near her cage... being that she has 800 pounds per square inch in that beak... it got the attention of the wolf's nose quickly... {G}
She's also a good burglar alarm... {G} We're teaching her now to scream SNAKE SNAKE SNAKE!!!...

The range really depends, but for your more northern climes I'm going to say over a thousand. Around here we get them anywhere from 600.00 up and other parrots of her size can be purchased starting at around 350.00, if you were here, I have all ideas I could do better on the prices, but I'm going to say for Canada, prices will probably start at least at the 1000.00 mark.
And thanks all for the compliments and comments, I love my lady Francine to death, she's like my kid rather than my bird!!!

I have a Meyers parrot
They are a small african parrot, a cousin to Senegals. They are relatively quiet compared to most parrots and are really good at playing by themeselves with their toys when mom (me) is not around.He also can talk talk up a storm and sing along to music. My Diablo is a sweety one minute, then Satan the next, but thats why I adore him
In Canada most parrots/parakeets start at $800 (retail, breeders are a bit cheaper).
My "feathered kid" cost me a grand including taxes, but I consider it nothing when I think how long I will have this charming little ****head as a part of my dysfunctional family

Jenn,
I remember those little guys, they are so cute and so smart! I know what you mean about the personality though and I'd have to agree that to me, that's what makes them! I wouldn't have it any other way. The only thing with Francine is that she hates childen, she was abused by a doctor's children and now she doesn't care how sweet or gentle the child is, she smells children and like the witch in Hansel and Gretel, she means to eat them she does!!! (G)
And yes, she'll out live me, she's 9 now and it's not unheard of for the amazons to live to 80 or 90 years of age, so I'll have to will her to my daughter! I don't think I would take any amount of money for her though, she's family, calling us by name, dropping a peanut or a bone and exclaimning, "Oh Sh**!" calling me A**hole and then calling me pretty girl etc... I don't know what we'd do if she wasn't hear, we'd probably be completely lost without her.
Tay
