Royal vs. Ball
Doesn't royal python just sound cooler than ball python? Why didn't we stick to the european name?

I beleive it is personal preference really. You can refer to it any way you please. I think that the name ball is just easier to remeber maybe, or maybe it was just catchier and better for marketing. JMO. I refer to them any of three ways Royal, Ball, or regius. I like the term ball better though it just goes better with some of the morphs out their like snow ball, as opposed to snow royal. or even piedball (piebald ball, whichever) Once again JMO.

I've always said Ball Python, just because years ago when we found our first ball and took her to the vet to have her checked out they said she was a 'ball' python. I do think that Royal Python sounds cooler, but it's habit to say Ball Python for me.

ball is in reference to one of their defenses *sp?*, curling up in a ball with their head tucked in. I like the term Ball python better......don't know why JMO...

And 'ball' is much more fun to say than 'royal' also. "I have many balls", "most of my balls weigh over 4 pounds" or "my balls enjoy each others company". See?

I always hated the Royal moniker because Retics used to be called Regal Pythons and that confused the hell out of. So now I like that they're called Ball Pythons.

Lol, it's too easy. Wanna hear something sad? My girlfriend won't even look at my ball. I appreciate your sympathy.

I guess that means she hasn't touched your ball either! My sympathy is with you!
