'Nother boa question... fecal!

Okay, the good news is my boa defecated (the warm soak did him some good it would seem) so I can finally get a fecal done.

The bad news is that I can't see this fecal being anything but BAD news. There was a big glob of urate (normal looking) and strings of green things. I can only assume they were feces, but they honestly looked like strings of algea. There was no actual feces that I could find, just the slippery green things and the urates.

I'm bringing all that stuff in for a fecal tomorrow, but I just have a few questions regarding the sample:

1. Do I need to bring the urate too?

2. Will it make a difference if the feces/urate were in a betadine solution?

3. Has anyone seen this type of thing before???

Thanks,
A Very Worried Zoe

me personally would phone the vet first. and if it's closed or noone answers just bring in everything! i am not sure about the betadine. if youve ever gotten a fecal done for any of your lizards it should be the process. correct me if im wrong.

Definitely makes a difference if the sample has been contaminated with betadine. Iodine is a powerful microbicide. If he hasn't defecated, they can take a sample via a cloacal wash as well. This should only be last resort though.
