A must read for people over 25 yrs of age.

All people over 25 should be dead.

To the survivors:

According to today's regulators and bureaucrats, those of us who were kids in the 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's probably shouldn't have survived.

Our baby cribs were covered with bright colored lead-based paint. We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets, and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets. (Not to mention the risks we took hitchhiking.)

As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags.

Riding in the back of a pickup truck on a warm day was always a special treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle. Horrors! We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle, and no one actually died from this.

We ate cupcakes, bread and butter, and drank soda pop with sugar in it, but we were never overweight because we were always outside playing.

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the street lights came on. No one was able to reach us all day.
No cell phones. Unthinkable.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then rode down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo 64, X-Boxes, no video games at all, no 99 channels on cable, video tape movies, surround sound, personal cell phones, personal computers, or Internet chat rooms.

We had friends! We went outside and found them.

We fell out of trees, got cut and broke bones and teeth,and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.

We made up games with sticks and tennis balls and ate worms, and although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes, nor did the worms live inside us forever.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's home and knocked on the door, or rang the bell or just walked in and talked to them.

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment.

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke a law was unheard of.
They actually sided with the law. Imagine that!

This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers and problem solvers and inventors, ever. The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all.

And you're one of them!

Congratulations. Please pass this on to others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before lawyers and government regulated our lives, for our own good.

Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors?

hehe I long for the days when I could ride pedal bike with out a helmet or when parents could tell there kids to go and play in the street or when the only thing you bought condoms for was kick@ss water balloons

lol....that's great. i look at my kids all the time and think of what they are missing out on. i try to send my kids outside to play, but there is never anyone outside to play with because no one will let their kids out of their sight at all! It's very sad.

I love this post! I got it in email a while back, and it is SO true. you know what else I miss? The days when parents could discipline their kids without going to jail. Been to a walmart lately? If, when I was a child, I acted like some of the brats there, my mom would have knocked me into the middle of next week... and I'm glad she did! Guess what? I was a well behaved child!

After seeing how kids are now days, I must thank my Dad for every backhand/butt kick & my Mom for every wooden spoon that was busted on my butt. Nowadays a serious punishment might include a "Timeout" from cell phones, internet & video games. If kids are really bad they will sometimes even take away TV. "OH MY GOD DO THEY EVER HAVE IT ROUGH!" The saddest thing is the parents nowadays. There was no way in Hell that I would ever even consider getting away with the amount of disrespect that is displayed by kids today. I bet 9/10 kids today don't even know what a mouthfull of soap even tastes like. Back in the old days the sight of a wooden spoon or a bar of Ivory could shut up every kid in the house real quick & gain their immediate attn. Nowadays to get attn. a parent must disconect something & have their kids flip out about it. My how things have changed, some call it Progress LOL Mark I.

You know what pisses me off is how much easier it is to access porn these days. When I was a boy I had to get my porn the old fashion way: shoplift it or steal it from Dad. None of this push button pay-per-view stuff, no internet porn search engines. Yes, when I was a boy you had to work if you wanted to play with yourself and kids these days just don't understand that.

I thank my mother everyday for wrecking a few wooden spoons on my a$$, as a result, I was a reasonably well behaved kid. I sure as hell didn't have a tantrum on the floor in a Wal-Mart due to my parents' form of discipline. It really annoys me that if I was to have children, that I cannot give them a spanking if they're having a temper tantrum in public. Talking calmly is NOT going to calm an unruley child down... a hard swat on the behind though can be a good deterrant to a repeat of that sort of behaviour.

Ha all the fond memories of my child hood. LOL
I do have very well behaved children as I still use the old ways of discipline.
If the are doing something wrong and I have to tell them more than one time to behave.
They will get a good swat on the @ss. I do not believe in just using time outs.

I am a better person for the way my parents raised me.
I do respect my elders and treat people the way I would like to be treated.

Boy, do they miss good times. There is a girl down the street that my daughter is friends with. She is either 10 or 11 years old, and almost as big as me (I am only 5'0" tall, btw), but she is not allowed to come down to my house. Do u wanna know why? Because she is not allowed to go past the next door neighbors drive way! Can u believe that? That's ludicrous! And she's not allowed to cross streets. What parents don't seem to realize is that overprotecting them like this is actually hurting them in the long run. They are way more immature or more dependent than we ever were. It is crazy. No wonder my kids can't find anyone to play with when I tell them to go outside.

I have 4 kids and 2 beautiful young ladies and i am terrified about the pedophiles and the murders of children i am sorry to say but our government lets these things out with not much more then a slap on the hand as far as i am concerned.... put the death penalty back in action and you will see that alot of children will be alowed to play outside and have more fun, just be allowed to be kids without having to worry about being hauled away.
As sad as this is it is true now a days. As for dicipline
As for us a good fear of God is always best.

The old ways also weeded out the not so bright ("hey, look no hands!" CRUNCH). As for disipline my mom was wicked with a plastic spoon (makes a wooden one soft), didn't stop me from causing trouble though, I just learned that some stuff was more likely to get me punished then others

Staying out late didn't hurt, fighting with my sister did.
