Sexing fire bellied toads

How do you do it? I have 3, and I have no idea how to tell who is what.

The only way to tell the difference is that the males are the only ones who vocalize. So it is easy to figure out which are male, but finding a 100% way to determine which are females would be extremely difficult. The only way I would know would be to see them actually lay eggs during breeding.

The male will actually grab the femelle just over the back legs.
And it's not true that only male sing. Femelle too can sing if they feel attack by the male.

Country:
i have heard females sing occasionally as well.

there is a way to tell, but i find it very difficult.
males have a "pad" on their back legs, its not that big, and not all that noticable, but that is one way you can tell by looking....sometimes its still tough to tell, but i recommend looking, cause if you forsure see the "pad" you know it is a male!

When I bred my fire belly toads a number of years back the males always had a darker black "wrist" and thumb region, especially when they were preparing to breed. The biggest indicator though was always how hugely fat the females became in comparison to the males.

Hope this helps,
Duncan

Thanks, I'll try to look, I think they all sing sometimes, but they all make different sounds, though all very loud, especially when Im trying to sleep. One of them is very fat I have noticed. ( i have 3) Is there any truth to saying that the males have a bumpier back with more black spots, while the females are a little smoother, with fewer spots? I think it would be cool of they bred. Sometimes I will see one hanging off the back of another. What temp does the water have to be for them to breed? Would I need to seperate them? I shouldnt get ahead of myself, I probably just have 3 gay males.

Right I forgot that the females do vocalize when they feel threatened. Sorry for any confusion!!!
