New to forum and snakes (became owner of friends milksnake)

Hi Everyone,
My name is Mike and I am new to snakes/could use some advice. My friend had what I thought was a scarlet kingsnake in a 20 gallon tank on newspapers and a couple rocks. He had to go away for a bit for some help and the options were he had to get rid of it or I could watch it until he got out so I agreed. Well, he ended up moving away right after he got back out and so now I have a snake. The inside of the enclosure was sad so I put zoo med aspen bedding down and some hollow rocks, logs, fake plants and a water bowl. He was fed 3 pinkies every 4 weeks when I got him but that seemed not enough as he was very active a day or after eating, in what seemed like he wanted to hunt. So now he gets a fuzzy a week. Hoping you all can help ID the snake type and what size enclosure it will eventually need and anything I may have wrong. There's a heat pad on hot side and a dual light ceramic lamp, hot side is about 86-88, cool side high 70s. Attached pictures to assist. The one of him climbing up enclosure I had to turn sideways to fit as attachment. Thanks in advance everyone!

-Mike
