Hardware Recommendations

I feel like this topic might be located somewhere else amongst the forums so if this is a duplicate topic I apologize, I just didn't happen upon it.

I'm just wondering what products (specifically) you all have used and liked as far as thermometers/hydrometers go. Are there any that can measure humidity as well as temp with a probe? I have a probed thermometer/hydrometer for both of my snakes but it won't measure the humidity with the probe. The only hydrometer/temp combos I've found have to be placed in the cage and I don't like that very much. They seem to get knocked over and I just can't find a good way to manage an "intank" temp/hydrometer with a snake.

Also, any good heat tape thermostats you all recommend? I'm using some that I ordered from Amazon for gardening but I feel like there has to be better ones intended for reptile use. I'm not a novice keeper, but I'm definitely somewhat new to the reptile scene and want to get the best equipment I can without spending a fortune (if at all possible).

Re: Hardware Recommendations

Not sure about measuring humidity, I just do it by looking for signs of condensation. For thermostats, the ones I like best are herpstats. They offer a good combination of features, precise control, and cost. They are more expensive than cheapie tstats off amazon but they offer far more safety features, off/on timers, keep the heat tapes at steady temperatures, etc. For tempguns, I have a couple I like I think they are called TG1s. I forgot how much but something like 20 bucks and they accurate right out of the box.

Re: Hardware Recommendations

Condensation is a really poor measure of humidity. My boas viv runs at 65-70% and never shows condensation except after a heavy misting and even then it doesn't always. Condensation is a sign of poor ventilation more than high humidity.

Appreciate you're in the states but I'm sure you'll be able to get this or similar. I user these bad boys. Brilliant bits of kit if a touch pricey.
