Caesarion-Onyx Baby Profiles (2015-C)
(Note this post is best viewed in threaded layout, where available.)
Living Gems Reptiles is pleased to finally profile the babies from its 2015 “C” litter.
Born on January 16, 2016 to Caesarion (a July 2010 male with strong orange-red color and vivid neon orange side crescents)…
Sire
As a baby -- cutely shy:
As an adult -- check out those side crescents:
…and Onyx (a May 2008 female noted for stunning strong orange color and fat side crescents, and her partial immunity to “color fade”)…
Dam
Back in her heyday, sporting her trademark vivid orange:
After her fade, showing her remarkable resilience:
…this litter represents the first pairing of these two animals.
The 19 babies in this litter showed potential from Day 1, with many of them hinting at their high orange heritage and displaying fat, bright side crescents. They tend towards short dorsal chains, with only two babies have more than one long section. The gender split was slightly female-heavy, with 9 boys and 10 girls.
All have now shed twice, eaten six times, and had “confirmation” their digestion is properly working. As has been outlined in previous posts, all of these babies come from a disease-tested facility.
As with all LGR litters, we’ve done dozens of handling sessions for each baby, part of our commitment to start acclimating them to humans.
Over the following posts, please find a short profile of every baby in the litter. For each, a short description is provided, noting any behavioral or physical quirks, along with a selection of photos showing their development over the first two sheds. For dorsal chains, “short” means two to three linked spots, and “long” mean four or more.
Note that our camera experienced a surprise reset during a trip, and as such several of the photos taken right afterward suffered from “off” color. These are noted in their write-ups.
So grab a cup of your favorite brew, sit back, relax, and enjoy!
Thank you as always,

Baby #04 (Male)
This roguish little explorer has three short dorsal chains on his back. He has one small dorsal spot in the center of his back, and several dorsals with open borders. His sides are mostly generous crescents, with one bullseye and one merged spot on his right; and one bullseye and two merged spots on his left. This is the little sneak that, when I ducked out of the room for a few minutes to answer a phone call on cleaning day, decided to crawl off the work area, down under the electronics, down under the photo equipment, into a large box, and hide under the emergency generator…then look annoyed when I found him.
