Question!

Hey guys quick question for yall, so currently relocated down to Florida. So recently discovered that the house i rent with my cousin is having bug problems. From what he informed me the house might have to be tented. Now I know my reptiles cannot stay in the house while this is happening, one of my concerns is this box of substrate. Will I need to relocate this as well? And anything else I need to not have in the house before this happens?

Re: Question!

Honestly, if you can box it up and take it, then do that. If you have to leave anything, make sure they are hard surfaced so you can rinse them thoroughly wjen you get back in.

Re: Question!

First I would make sure the bugs didn't get into the substrate. Even if I didn't see any I would be concerned that they laid eggs in it and recommend putting it into quarantine for a few months. I would take any reptile related materials out of the house just to be safe. Also I would give everything a good cleaning with diluted bleach to make sure the bugs don't hide out in the snake habitat.

Re: Question!

I'd buy new substrate. Who wants to risk a second tenting?

Re: Question!

Thanks for the info guys, we have a bug person coming to the house tomorrow to see what they have to say about it. If it's any kind of insect that infests wood, I'll be buying new substrate and then replacing the substrate in the enclosures
