New soon-to-be King Owner
Hey all,
Ive always been into snakes, but I think moving to Rattler-rich Arizona back in September has resparked my snake interest. My wife has been scared of snakes her whole life, but my 3.5 year old daughter and I love em and somehow I talked her into possibly getting a snake.
So last weekend we visited the local reptile shop and checked a few out. I ended up holding an extremely well behaved, healthy, and beautiful 3.5' black and white King Snake. I actually got my wife to do something she never thought she'd EVER do.......she touched the snake I was holding. Tried to get her to hold it but she said "baby steps". I think she was impressed with how tame it was. We decided to buy a King Snake book and we are planning to go back and pick up an adolescent twin of the 3.5' I held. Seems like these are a great first snake to start with and Im extremely stoked about it. As soon as funds are available, were heading back to pick up the adolescent we found.
Happy to be here, I look forward to learning!

Re: New soon-to-be King Owner
Welcome and best wishes D. Kings are excellent snakes for beginners and experienced keepers IMO. You'll find lots of nice people and great information on this forum. Please share pics of your king when you can.

Re: New soon-to-be King Owner
Rofl, excellent name, Death Worm. Bravo. I don't name my snakes other than for ease of record keeping (and even then it is simple nicknames, the Speckled King is Speck, the Bullsnake is Bull, etc.) but I'm a bit tempted to steal that.

Re: New soon-to-be King Owner
Yeah I saw that term used on the venomous forum and thought it was pretty funny. Were still trying to decide what to name ours, guess it depends on whether or not we know the sex of the snake we choose.

Knowing gender is important to me, which is why I'm super happy I got my baby online from the breeder. Guaranteed female!
