Anxiously waiting!
I decided to go in on an order of Bitis nasicornis with a good friend of mine, since the quantity would allow us to get a discount and combine shipping to help us both save. They arrive Tuesday....I'm so excited and can't wait to see the little ones!!!
This is going to be a looonnnggg weekend and Monday!
I'm also a bit nervous as it will be my first time picking up snakes at an airport. I hope I don't get lost and everything goes smoothly.....

Re: Anxiously waiting!
The idea of working with hots is scary. The idea of buying them in bulk is hilarious!

I'm leaving for the airport. I'm so nervous; I hope I find the cargo building easily and that my new little fang faces arrive with no problems!

Re: Anxiously waiting!
Phew, that was a harrowing experience. I'm very upset with Delta, as they apparently have ****** record-keeping.
So, I got to the airport at 5:30, since the plane was to touch down at 5:24 and was a bit early. I checked in, was told nothing came in on that flight for me, and after half an hour I was informed that the box didn't get to the cargo gate in Atlanta in time for the second flight. The snakes would be arriving at 9:45pm.
That left me having to hang around Philly for 5 hours and get food. I ended up going out to a bar with one of my friends from grad school, so that was fun. I got back to the cargo pickup at 10pm, only to be told that they weren't on that flight. The records showed that the box had been removed from the flight in Atlanta, but no further information was available. At that point I was exhausted and frustrated and furious; I'd spent a LOT of money on these snakes and one of them is not mine, so I was terrified they'd be lost and I'd be out the money.
I had to call Delta customer service, who had no clue where my package was, and told me they were going to initiate a trace. I lost it and told the lady that they were baby snakes, living creatures, and losing them is unacceptable. I was crying and absolutely devastated, when one of the cargo crew guys came in and asked me if I was waiting for the snakes. I said yes, and he told me he'd just taken an orange box off the flight labeled "venomous." I was so relieved....they brought me the box a few minutes later and all the cargo crew wanted to see the little guys and get pictures. I was more than happy to open it up in the office and check them. All 3 made it; they're a LOT smaller than I expected them to be, but plump and absolutely adorable!
By the time I got home it was almost midnight, so I got them set up in new homes, misted down and given water and I crashed.
I snapped a few pictures, but only 2 came out, since my phone was almost dead. I will get more tonight.

Re: Anxiously waiting!
I'm super jealous Kim. Congrats on the pick up, and not killing anyone at the airport. I want to see lots of pics of these two as they grow.
