Re: thermostats
Ya i have a question about this too. if you want multiple cages to be at the same temp can you run a thermostat that will opperate multiple cages? assuming that the cages are the same size and make.

Re: thermostats
Check out Spyder Robotics
The Herpstats are the standard for reptile thermostats with a few different options for different set-ups. I currently have a pair of Herpstat II's and five Herpstat Pro's in use.

Re: thermostats
i use herpstats as well and they are great.
there are various models with different features that will allow you to run heat elements for multiple cages as long as the maximum wattage of the thermostat is not exceeded.

Re: thermostats
At one point, I had 12 Helix's running all my stuff, incs included and then bought one Herpstat Pro. I sold all my Helix's and replaced them all with Herpstats. Cost close to $2K but was worth every red cent.

It is just like the thermostat in your house. it has a probe and when it is below the temp you set then it turns up the heat. when it is higher it stops the heat. it heats by whatever heat source you have it connected to.

Re: thermostats
Julian, I love the Pros. I run all of my ball racks, (hatchling to adults) off of them and can't say enough good things. I really appreciate that there are four probes for each unit, so in my case, with each rack standing 8 shelves high, I can attach a probe every two levels and cut out all the guesswork of the thermal layering that I had with the Helix's.

Re: thermostats
Mike that sounds amazing. im going to need a new herpstat soon so i may pick one of those up. i love how you can use all four probes on the same rack and have a consistent temp for your flexwatt. my herpstat NDs only have one probe that i place on the bottom shelf and the flexwatt temps can range from 88-96 bottom to top and that really sucks sometimes.
with the herpstat pro you can control different heat elements with the single unit right? like i could use two probes for flexwatt in a rack, one probe for RHPs in enclosures and another for a different size flexwatt in another rack right?

Re: thermostats
Julian, yup. You can control lighting with one probe, a strip of heat tape, an UTH and a ceramic bulb if you want, all set at different temps. Best unit out there and NOTHING even comes close to touching it's functions.
