Found a unique shell on my last vaction to Cuba.
I found this diving in Cuba, I've never seen anything like it so wouldn't mind some help identifying it.
Sorry for picture quality my camera is on the verge of dieing.
The shell looks like a tube slide in an amusement park, at no point does one "tube" touch another, it spirals down to a point. If you want i can try and get better photos.

Whatever it is it looks cool as hell, might take it to the museum and get it identified there. I start volunteering at a reptile zoo on Tuesday, so my time is going to be pretty tight for a while (2 hours there and 2 hours back every other day)

Re: Found a unique shell on my last vaction to Cuba.
It is the former home of a marine worm. Most likely a feather duster. It's a combination of sediment and saliva. YouTube - Feather duster worm
Usually they are straight but if the worm has lived in the same tube for a very long time it will end up building it in a coil.
It is not a shell.

Re: Found a unique shell on my last vaction to Cuba.
The museum finally got back to me.
We talked on the phone for about an hour, they haven't looked at anything quite like it before.
I have a meeting for tuesday, he wants to see it in person. I'm getting a free tour of the Museum of Natures private collection, and we will continue talking there!
WOOT!!!

Did you end up making it to the museum? I don't quite remember if you ever rescheduled?

Talking to him via email right now, he found 2 similar shells, and wants to meet.
I'll tell you how it goes tonight.
