Re: 39.8 gram Borneo help!

Make sure the animal is well hydrated. Bloods and Borneos dont like to lift their heads into water dishes so try to have it equal with the top of the substrate.

In terms of feeding I would switch to rats, the fuzzy mouse isnt going to be giving enough body mass in terms of prey item to get the growth going, right now it is just barely enough food for normal functions. They can take very large prey at a young age due to their girth. Mice just dont have enough fat and bone mass to get your little Borneo growing but soon it will .

Re: 39.8 gram Borneo help!

Could you post a picture of the snake?

And I agree if the snake is that underweight something needs to be done. It's less than half the weight of a hatchling...that's really off. Either it's an extreme runt, or extremely emaciated.

Any herp vet could help you. Thats their job to help any reptile. Bring her to your closest animal hospital with food.

Re: 39.8 gram Borneo help!

It's good that the snake is still alert and taking meals on its own. I agree with the exotic vet bc you are dealing with severe dehydration and malnutrition here. So the animal may require fluid boluses and or a aggressive feeding program for the short term to prevent any organ failure.
