Is it normal real for BRBs to lay like this?

I can tell she's getting ready to shed & she had a big meal Tuesday. https://twitter.com/savannah_polson/...81202571595776

I just want to make sure she isn't getting sick. She's my first rainbow and they are more difficult than burms, bps, or corns.

She was laying like this in her hide, I just scooped her up and took this picture.

beautiful girl She seems to be in good health, Im not too sure why she would be laying how she is, was that the first time she did that in your hand or has she laid like that in her enclosure too? I wouldn't worry too much usually paranoia gets the best of us reptile owners. Just keep a close eye on her and make sure her husbandry is on point

I hear that sometimes they lay belly up due to being gravid but i doubt thats the case with your girl, I'm not too experienced but try to help out where i can. Hopefully someone more knowledgable on here will be able to tell why she would be laying that way

Yeah, they'll do this for a variety of reasons: being too hot, a big meal, being in shed, etc.

Since she's in shed, that's probably what's causing it. BRBs are drama queens when it comes to shedding, my BRB is the only one that will lay on his side/belly up and contort awkwardly when in shed.

I swear she scares me on purpose. I did up the temp on her tank because the house was getting colder with winter and all. It's still about 78 degrees though, so that shouldn't be too hot.

I've never seen one do it due to shed (though I'm sure it's possible), but both a full belly and thermoregulation are common causes of rainbow contortions. (Plus being gravid, of course!) They can do it young, too -- I've even found a baby upside down before!!! I see no reason to worry unless there are other odd signs that suggest a pattern. Nice girl!!!
