Breeding Carpets

Hi guys,
I am only have a coastal tiger right now, but I'm going to get an irian jaya jaguar soon. Hopefully, next season I'll be able to breed them. I have a couple questions though:
1) What would the hatchlings be?
2) How big should I expect the clutch to be?
3) What are the cheapest rack systems you can think of?
Thank you so much.

Re: Breeding Carpets

buy a copy of.....

Keeping and Breeding Australian Pythons, edited by Mike Swan

i had to get mine from Australia, but it was the best money i'd spent in a long time,it covers everything you will ever need to know about Carpet Pythons...

its pretty much the Carpet Bible mate

re Coastal Tiger x Irian Jaya Jaguar

theoretically you could produce.....

Tiger Coastal with some Irian influences

Tiger Coastal Jags with some Irian influences

Jags with Coastal and Irian influences

Coastal Irians

cheers shaun

Re: Breeding Carpets

cheapest would be to build your own.

Other than that brands like animalplastics, boaphile, reptilebasics,vision....etc all make baby racks. There's really a lot to choose from so I'd look at those options and see which fit you best.

The book shaunyboy mentioned is pretty hard to find in the states(on amazon it's going for a rediculous price at over $500).

I'd look into Nick Mutton's book "The Complete Carpet Python". You can buy it on amazon or directly from his site inlandreptile.com

ahah yeah the normal prices are $50-70 but I guess the seller wants to take advantage of the book's rarity. =[

$566.27 to be exact

It's a very good book. Goes over most carpet python subspecies, morphs, care,breeding...etc. Written just a couple years ago by two very well-known carpet python breeders.
