Re: New king species morph

Eastern Apalachicola Lowlands Kingsnake, Lampropeltis meansi. This species has quite the taxonomic history. It was briefly known as the Eastern King Snake, Lampropeltis getula (Pryon & Burbrink, 2009). Before that it was known as a subspecies of the Common King Snake (Lampropeltis getula sp.), as Lampropeltis g. goini or Lampropeltis g. meansi, commonly called Apalachicola King Snake, Apalachicola Lowlands King Snake, or Blotched King Snake. A very recent paper, Krysko et al. (2016), has elevated it to full species status as Lampropeltis meansi. Beautiful animal, grats on the new addition.

Very nice colors...they contrast very well against the black!

Re: New king species morph

You know, I may have the wrong locale here. This may be a south Florida critter, not a panhandle locale. Formerly known as Brooks King Snake (Lampropeltis getula brooksi) but now known as Florida King Snake (Lampropeltis floridana). If so it should fade to a pale yellow and black over time.

another pic. I hope it keeps the orange if it's the first species you suggested would colors stay?

Yes i love the contrast against the black so beautiful! I love it even if it does turn pale yellow.

Thanks I looked in the cage and I didn't see nothing but tag said one was in there. Went and got my supplies that I need for other snakes. I came back through and it was out and instantly feel in love with it lol.

Thanks! I will keep all informed with photos! It sure is a pretty snake. No idea if make or female but I have no plans of breeding so don't matter much other then choosing a name. Which btw I have not done yet!
