Is my BP sick? o.o
It’s not a respiratory infection- she has no bubbles, problems breathing, sneezing etc. It’s also nothing else obvious or else I wouldn't be on here . . . I would be at the vet. But anyways, my ball python has within a matter of the last 2 or 3 days has gotten considerably dark in color. (pictures listed below)
It's been 5 weeks since her last shed so . . . I'm not sure if it would be considered to soon for her to shed again? On top of that when she sheds she looks like a transparent silver film has been put over her, right now shes just very dark.
I know BP's tend to darken up as they get older but she JUST turned 5 months old. Another thing; I replaced her substrate a while back from aspen to Eco Earth Compressed Coconut Fiber (about 2 months ago) and since she's gotten darker over the weekend she will not stop burrowing. She has 3 hides in her cage and so far she's only using the warm one for when she gets cold. When she's done warming up she goes and burrows or hides behind a plant instead of using the hides. Is this okay? She's not lethargic or anything. She moves a lot when she's outside the cage, but hardly any at all when she's inside. Normally she is a bit more active than she has been lately. She also has this rock slate in there that kind of looks like Pride Rock from Lion King that she loves to rest on lol and she hasn't even been on it once since like 3 days ago. Any other time she's not sleeping or hiding she sits on the rock.

If this uploaded correctly the first photo is her, not even a week ago (where shes curled up)
The next two are what she looks like now
and the last one is what she looks like in shed. idk why she is hugging syrup . . . she did that on her own Lol
(the shed picture was added so you have something for comparison)

Re: Is my BP sick? o.o
is her belly a pinkish colour? If so then that can indicate a upcoming shed. She is still pretty small so it wouldn't be out of the question for her to shed again after 5 weeks...

Ball Pythons (especially at a younger age) usually shed every month or so, depending on growth rate. Nothing to worry about Just be happy that she's growing and looks very healthy, I love G-Stripes too

Have you considered the Eco earth is darkening the skin... Might not be, just something that popped in my mind.
