Red face Breeding

Hi All!

Been a long time since I've posted on here. I'm starting to get really into RTB's and considering dipping my toes into breeding into the next year or two. (I've breed corns so have an amateur understanding of corn snake breeding) So I'm starting to get my head around all sorts of things.

Theses are going to sound like some right old rookie questions but here they go:

-I've got a 1.0 Central American; can I breed a CA with a Columbian?

-I've also got a 14 month of Columbian 0.1 growing HUGE, I just picked her up without knowing anything about the parents so I can't decipher what she actually is, if I post a picture of her would you be able to tell roughly by looking or am I able to take her somewhere or will I just never know?

-When/how do I know if my boa is a breeder?

1. It can be done, but why do it? You would be muddying up the gene pool, contributing to the population of "unpure" localities.

2. We could guess, but we would never really know

3. I don't know, someone else may be able to answer.

Re: Breeding

The answer to question three depends on weight and age.

Re: Breeding

If she's growing huge then look at your feeding schedule/amounts for an answer... It's directly related.

I haven't bred anything yet so I'm useless there...

Re: Breeding

You know if your snake is a breeder when he starts breeding. I think you meant to ask, how do you know when your snake is ready to breed, which Korbin answered for you.

Re: Breeding

I would, with great respect to the OP, agree with Point 1. There are enough "mutts" out there as is.
