Lights Out!

Is it alright to shut the lights off in your enclosure completely at night?
Jas has a new heat lamp and the cage temp is about 80 now. For tonight I shut all the lights off (since the red lightbulb I already had doesn't give off heat) and draped a blanket over her cage. I considered putting a hot-hands packet under her cage by the hide so the floor would be warm. Good/bad idea?
So yeah. Whaddaya think?

Re: Lights Out!

Yes you MUST keep it dark at night, it messes up their systems if not.

In nature they crawl up under things like rocks and logs at night, so they are used to dark & cool nights.

I shut my whole reptile room down at night.
