All discussion of photos and chit-chat about the May photo contest should go here
The photo contest theme for May is "Reptiles & Musical Instruments" - Photos of your reptile on or near a musical instrument.

Re: May Photo Contest DISCUSSION
Have made my entry on the May contest thread but also wanted to share some other pictures I took of Charlotte at the same time. (same snake, different angle)
I had orignally wanted to use one of the other snakes but picked her becasue she just shed nicely.
So not my official entries...just wanted to share.
(Remember, official entries go in the other thread)

Inconsistency leads to people having less interest.
Maybe it'll return.

Personally, i only use photos i have already taken, so if i had a pic of one of mine with an instrument i would submit it but i dont so i wont bother my animals just to get a pic to submit for a contest

Re: May Photo Contest
The number of entries correlates with the topic. Easy topics where people might already have photos of that theme, yield good results. Topics like these, where people would have to take their reptile out and take a photo specifically for the contest, don't. It happens.

I agree with this completely.
I would say subject matter can affect the number of entries for sure, however not as much as going 2 months without any kind of update or result

Re: May Photo Contest DISCUSSION
Aw, man, if I would have noticed this earlier, I would definitely have taken a photo. Usually if I don't see it on the front page, I forget about it, though. lol Maybe I'll post in the next contest.

It's okay.
I'm sure when July rolls around we'll have a June contest.

Re: May Photo Contest
Holy cow....I won. (Sorry guys I've been super busy lately)
As I understand: when someone wins they need to pick the next months subject. So how about....
The subject animal with a piece of equipment used in your favorite hobby.(non-herp)
For example: I'm an endurance cyclist so it would be a potion wrapped around one of the race bikes. If you love to fish then perhaps a smiling gecko peeking through the eyelet of your favorite rod. Say you are an NHL nut, but you don't have skates: no worries just submit a pic with the animal and your fav piece of team memorabilia. A runner? Put the animal next to your most "loved" training shoes. Be inventive. (Ok ready....go!)
