Question Is my kenyan sand boa still hungry?

I just recently got my first snake. She's a kenyan sand boa, roughly 12" long. I just brought her home yesterday. When I got her I was told she last ate about a week ago and today she seemed like she may be hungry so I fed her a pinky. the pinky was about the same girth as her body. After about 10 minutes she burrowed back into her substrate and started to poke her head out in different spots every few minutes. Since I brought her home I haven't seen her this active and I was wondering if she is still hungry and if this is her trying to hunt. Any advise?

Congrats on your first snake! It's not strange for a snake to remain in feeding mode for a bit after eating, most will take seconds but that doesn't mean they should get it. It's quite easy to overfeed.

Welcome aboard geek and best wishes with the new KSB. Like Tsubaki said they'll stay in feed mode for a while and many will overeat if you let them. One appropriately sized prey item once a week should be good for your critter but you can offer seconds occasionally.

Rodent eating snakes are best kept on a 7-10 day schedule as babies and a 10-14 day schedule as adults. A few species require a little more often than that or a little less often but for the most part an inexperienced keeper is gonna have one of the snakes that falls under this general rule of thumb.
